Traveling is one part of disc golf I'm most thankful for and I was excited for this trip. Colten and I had been planning almost a year ago to put this event on the calendar and now that it's come and gone, it's crazy how time flies and wow, what a trip.
Nokia DiscGolfPark, home of the European Open, was every bit as challenging as I imagined. The course was the site of both the President's Cup team competition and the European Open PDGA Major.
I was fortunate to be selected as an alternate for the U.S. team and had a blast caddying for Paige during the President's Cup. Congrats to all my American teammates on the win!
The European Open is a unique experience with the history, the Beast course, and the large crowds that attend. Course management, accurate tee shots, and scrambling are key out here. I came close to breaking par on the final round, shooting a +1, with a combined score of +27 over four days of competition. I ended up in 6th Place and was happy with my steady play.
Congrats to my friend and competitor Paige Pierce on your third European Open victory.
Thanks to the event staff, our Finnish host Juhani Tavi, and all the fans I met during our visit. Can't wait to return!
